GRAPHICS SOUND CONTROL FRUSTRATION FUN FACTOR OVERALL
Famicom
2 Player
Beat 'Em UpOne of my favorite NES games, and based on my all-time favorite cartoon show, comes to the Original Nintendo in the second round, along with better graphics, controls, fun, and incredible gameplay.
The plot is pretty standard. Girl kidnapped (April). Heroes go then to save girl. You begin by choosing which turtle you want to control and get right into the action of a burning building in search of April. This is a flawless arcade port with two new exclusive levels just for the NES. There is just so much I like about this game that I will try to stick to the basics first.
First off, the Famicom version is 98% the same as the US one. The only difference is the Pizza Hut advertisements spread over the game in the US version that are absent in the Japanese. The other is a big one. In the FC game, only one kick is needed to kill a foot solider compared to the two needed for the NES. It may sound like a small thing, but you'll quickly see that the FC game is much easier because of this. Besides these two points, everything else is the same. I originally got the NES game when it first came out and last year I picked up the Fami. This review is basically for both versions since there are only these two noticeable differences.

.Graphically, this game is AMAZING for its time of release ('90). After seeing this game you'll wonder why the f- Jaws looks so bad. It's just that good. I'll even go as far as to say it could very well be considered an average-looking SNES game.
Gameplay is the standard beat-em-up, Double Dragon type. Kill all enemies, move to next screen, repeat. If you try to go through the game in one sitting without the codes, a very hard task, expect your fingers to be hurting because of the sometimes grueling labor of destroying anything and everything.
......Sound is top notch, the remixes and new music make the game cooler without too many repeats.
Like I said, TMNT 2 is a real challenge to finish without any codes. Frustration is high here but with the 9-live code the game is much easier. But besides the high frustration level, there is a lot of fun to be had here especially if you liked the TV shows.
......BOTTOM LINE: An awesome side scrolling beat-em up fun game. Plenty of the cartoon-famed characters make their appearances, such as: Splinter, Krang, Shredder, Baxter, Rocksteady, Bebop, and multiple forms of foot soldiers. It's easy to get into the game and hard to put it down. Any fans of the TV show or action games will get more than enough with TMNT 2.
