GRAPHICS SOUND CONTROL FRUSTRATION FUN FACTOR OVERALL

AdventureTreasure Island Dizzy, as well as the rest of the dizzy series, capture the imagination and put the player in a surreal environment. The game stars Dizzy, a simplistic yet perfectly acceptable egg. Throughout the game Dizzy must obtain and use comical items to free himself of an evil captor. Despite having to port the game from Amiga, Code Masters made sure there were very few flaws.
Graphics: Treasure Island Dizzy has moderate to okay graphics. Many florescent colours were used, making player appeal great. Unfortunately, for such a good game, the graphics do not always hold up. No shading was attempted on dizzy, and the enemies were poorly done. There have also been reports of Code Master's black colour not working on older television sets. Overall, I would expect more from Code Masters.
Sound: The music of Treasure Island Dizzy, although sparse, puts out a wonderful melody. The main theme of the game is a perfect blend of notes to make a catchy, but not annoying, tune. Even the "death" song is not annoying - something most games can't achieve. Sound effects are lacking in the game. One common sound effect is used for hitting an enemy, picking up an item, and dying.
Gameplay: Treasure Island Dizzy is a unique puzzle game. The player must find items and use them at the correct time to advance. It plays alot like Lucas Art's Monkey Island series. Dizzy can only hold three items at a time. Because of this, the player is often found running back and forth and rearranging items. This also becomes annoying at times when going into sea. Dizzy must always have a snorkle on hand. One big disadvantage against game play is that Dizzy has only one life to live. Hit one enemy, or make a stupid mistake, and the player must start the long journey over again. Dizzy has many frames of animation making for a smooth operating game.
Replay: Because of Treasure Island Dizzy being a puzzle game, the replay value is low. The player usually remembers all the puzzles, and doesn't wish redo work collecting all thirty coins.
There is no humour in the game to keep the players coming back.......BOTTOM LINE: Treasure Island Dizzy is a fun game to play. The graphics are average and the sound is okay. I believe this to be one of the best in the Dizzy series. If you ever find Quattro Adventure, pick it up and give Treasure Island Dizzy a spin!
