As you know by now Robocop 3 is based on the third movie in the Robocop trilogy (If you didn't know than you need to get out more often). The first two movies also had games on the Nes, which, to say the least, were decent. The plot is that a company called OCP is going to bulldoze Detroit so they can build Delta City. Robocop sees that people are being forced out of their homes so he decides to help the homeless people. You have to go through five stages to take down OCP.

Graphics: This game has pretty great graphics. Everything moves really smooth. Robocop is a rather large sprite, and is nicely detailed. All the enemies are done well too. You can tell by their mohawks and clothing that they're gang members and all are animated good. The backgrounds in this game are also nicely done. You can see the city in the background and in the sewers it looks disgusting. This game was released in 1992, when most Nes games did have good graphics, which turns out to be a good thing on Robocop's behalf.

Sound: I absolutely love the opening theme in this game. The music in this game is top notch. All the levels have different themes, which are all good. Even if you don't like the music in this game the creators were nice enough to give you an option to turn off at the start of the game. The only downfall of the music is that it still sounds like bleeps and bloops when most Nes games at that time were using better sound systems. The sound effects in this game are decent. But again, if you don't like the sound effects they also give you an option to turn them off at the beginning.

Gameplay: This game involves Robocop traveling to defeat OCP. They give you different weapons to use to defeat them. You can select between missiles and bullets. Each of the weapons can be powered up by getting these little W icons. The missiles go from regular, to homing, to smart bomb. While the bullets go from regular, to rapid, to 3-way. In this game you have to watch out for where you are hit, because at the end of each level you go into a repair room. At this part, depending on how many P icons you picked up during the level, you must distribute the power ups to each of your body parts. If all your parts are at a really high percentage Robocop is stronger and faster. It is really a feature that should have been used in more games. The control in this game gets frustrating at times, mainly because some of the jumps are hard to make, but other than that the control is average.

Replay: The challenge of this game is mixed. It seems hard at first, but when you start learning the guys' patterns you can figure out easy strategies to beat them. The bosses provide a high challenge, especially the level 4 robot boss (IMO, he is one of the hardest bosses on any Nes game). The last level is weird, though. Before the challenge rises with each new level you make it to, but when you reach the last level it's really easy. The frustration level in this game is high. Like I've already mentioned, some of the jumps require good judgment, due to Robocop's awkward jumping, and the level 4 boss is a pain in the arse. Also you don't return to full health at the beginning of each new level. Once you beat this game you won't be coming back anytime soon.

......BOTTOM LINE: Robocop 3 does justice to the Robocop trilogy on the Nes. Being one of the better movie based games on the Nes, I recommend you pick it up and at least give it shot. Trust me it's a lot better than the Snes version.
